The Role

As a Technical Pre-Sales Engineer, you will work closely with our sales, engineering, and R&D teams to understand customer needs, analyze technical requirements, and shape high-level solution concepts. You will support customers, provide technical guidance throughout the sales cycle, and help ensure our optical ground station and quantum photonics products align with costumer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Understanding Customer Needs
  • Engage with customers to capture functional, operational, and technical requirements
  • Conduct technical discovery meetings to clarify objectives, constraints, and environmental conditions
Pre-Sales & Sales Engagement

  • Provide technical expertise throughout the sales cycle, including customer meetings, proposal preparation, and development of technical documentation
  • Deliver clear technical presentations, demonstrations, and workshops that communicate system capabilities.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships in the photonics, space, and optical communication sectors while identifying new leads and opportunities
  • Represent qtlabs at conferences, fairs, and industry events to engage customers and support market development
Bid & Proposal Support

  • Contribute to the preparation and coordination of bids, including technical inputs and solution descriptions
  • Ensure consistency between technical requirements, system design, and commercial offers
Required Qualifications

  • Degree in physics, photonics, optical engineering, or a related technical field
  • Understanding of optics (e.g., free-space optics, photonic sources, optical system components, etc.)
  • Interest in quantum and space technologies
  • Ability to analyze complex technical problems and communicate solutions clearly
  • Enjoys working with customers, partners, and cross-disciplinary teams
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Experience in a similar role is beneficial but not required
  • Fluency in English; German is a plus

The stated minimum gross salary for this position is € 42,980.00 per year (full-time, as defined by the collective agreement). The actual salary offered can be significantly higher and is determined based on your experience and qualifications, aligned with industry standard.
