One of the EU's leading machine learning hubs. A team with continuous high-impact publications (e.g., Nature, Science formats. Unique opportunities for fundamental research driven by field experiments across diverse domains (e.g., wildlife, agriculture, forest ecology, search and rescue, wildfire monitoring, surveillance, etc.).

Job Duties:

  • Supporting basic research (including field experiments) in the areas of computer vision, visual signal processing, and machine learning -- particularly in relation to drones and exploratory ground robots (see, for example, https://github.com/JKU-ICG/AOS/)
  • Writing and contributing to high-impact research publications and major grant proposals
  • Co-supervising MSc, BSc, and PhD students
  • Preparing and teaching courses, as well as supervising examinations in computer vision and machine learning, with a reduced teaching load of 6 hours per week (instead of 16) to support extended research activities
Your Qualifications:

  • The successful candidate must hold a PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a closely related field, and demonstrate a strong background in computer vision and machine learning
  • Teaching experience is required, preferably supported by formal evaluation results
  • Strong command of English (minimum level B2) and working knowledge of German is an advantage (level B1) but not mandatory
  • Demonstrated commitment, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • A strong publication record
