The impact you'll make

As a Mechanical Engineer at Lam, you're designing and defining cutting-edge mechanical and electro-mechanical systems. Your role involves feasibility studies, testing, and guiding teams in detailed design and fabrication. You provide the crucial design information needed to shape our technology's packaging.

In this role, you will directly contribute to developing automation and handling solutions for our panel business.

What you'll do

  • Participates in the conceptualization, modeling, analysis, development, documentation, and test/validation of hardware associated with new semiconductor equipment.
  • Design substrate automation components in accordance with performance, cost objectives, manufacturability, ESD, SEMI standard and clean room requirements
  • Perform design analysis (e.g. risk, FEM, vibration, throughout)
  • Ensures documentation is consistent with SEMI, Lam Standards and other standards as applicable (ANSI, DIN etc.) as well as best known methods for GD&T; accordingly, demonstrates knowledge and ability to properly utilize them.
  • Develops and execute test plans that generate characterization data sufficient to understand and validate the performance of the design.
  • Commissioning and start-up of prototypes and definition of theory of operation
  • Develops and presents reports/presentations of excellent quality that communicate design intent, analysis, and validation at design reviews.
  • Close interactions with suppliers and other Lam internal departments to ensure reception of high quality, well tested and cost optimized solutions for the defined requirements.
  • Prepares all required deliverables requested by product development plan (e.g. FMEA, technical specifications, risk analysis, test specifications, design review presentations)
Who we're looking for

Minimum Qualifications:
  • HTL degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 7+ years of expereince; or Bachelor's degree with 5+ years; or Master's degree with 3+ years; or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal, and technical presentation skills.
  • Highly proficient in 3D CAD tools such as Solid Edge, Siemens NX and others.
  • Experience with PDM software such as Siemens Team Center
  • Hands-on experimental and design background coupled with solid engineering skills.
Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in Semiconductor industry is a plus.
  • Experience in managing projects, or problem solving while managing time and multiple priorities.

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories - On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. 'On-site Flex' you'll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. 'Virtual Flex' you'll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
