Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor, Mail and Operations Unit, and the overall guidance of the Officer-in-Charge, UNPA Europe, the contractor will sell UN stamps and philatelic products. Also, the contractor will answer customers' queries, handle cash and credit card sales, timely bank sales revenue within 24 hours of sales. Record, generate and produce daily and monthly sales reports in excel spreadsheets; and as when required, process and frank/cancel mails deposited for postage. The contractor will set up the photographic, computer and printing equipment needed to take photos of VIC visitors and clients and reproduce personalized stamp sheets as required. Upload, process and print images on personalized stamp sheets and carry out monthly stock taking. Assist in peak workload assignments required to meet critical deadlines.
Qualifications/special skills
A high school diploma is required. Limited relevant working experience, preferably in handling stamps and philatelic products is required. Good sales and marketing skills are required. Good photographic and computer skills are required. Good manual skills to handle stamps and other philatelic products are required. Professionalism, client-orientation and accountability are required. Flexibility is desirable. Experience with photographic, computer and printing equipment in taking photos and creating back-ups for pictures taken is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in oral and written English is required. Good knowledge in German is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
