Rail Cargo Austria AG is driving forward the digitalization of the industry in Europe with the CARGO 1492 project and the MIKE logistics platform. The aim is to create a holistic and uncomplicated logistics solution from customers to the respective service providers. In this way, we are making an important contribution to the transport transition and to achieving climate goals.
For this purpose, the Cross Coordination Department at Rail Cargo Austria AG is looking for a Data Scientist (m/w/x).
Your Job
- Develop, implement, and
optimize AI and machine learning models to address complex business
problems.
- Work with large-scale data sets
to uncover insights, trends, and patterns.
- Design and deploy data
pipelines, leveraging MS Azure, and related tools.
- Collaborate with
cross-functional teams, including software engineers, product managers,
and stakeholders, to integrate AI solutions into business processes.
- Ensure scalability,
reliability, and performance of AI solutions within the Azure ecosystem.
- Stay updated with the latest
advancements in AI and cloud technologies to identify opportunities for
innovation.
- Understanding needs of the
business and whether or how they can be solved using data.
- Come up proactively with ideas
on how usage of data might benefit the business.
Your Profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Data Scientist, with a strong focus on AI and machine learning applications.
- Experience with pySpark and Databricks puts you at an advantage over other candidates.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and familiarity with machine learning libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).
- Strong understanding of data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation techniques.
- Hands-on experience with data engineering and machine learning tools offered by cloud providers is a plus.
Certifications in Microsoft Azure or AI-related fields are a plus. - Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- You don’t shy away from talking to stakeholders to understand their business needs.

- A minimum salary of € 53.696,16 gross/year is provided for the position “Senior Specialist:in Data Intelligence” (according to the collective rail company agreement). Depending on qualifications and professional experience, the salary can be above the collective agreement level, starting at € 60.000 gross/year full time (38,5 hours).
